Inductor as a storage device

Here I show how an inductor is commonly used to produce a high efficiency DC voltage from pulsed DC and how the inductor can be employed as a voltage doubler by utilising it’s back emf which adds to the original voltage source.  Each time there is switching employed to short circuit or open circuit the inductor and cause it’s magnetic field to expand and collapse.  You will see this again in Switching power supply subject.  There is an embedded video here or in the same week as these notes to demonstrate these circuit principles.
