Mac El Capitan and Sierra fix when using Wacom tablets
This is a great little painting program which has some Apple compatibility problems running under Mac OS 10.11 (all) and 10.12 (all)
Problem is the extreme lag, making the software unusable and which was quickly identified as a software problem with the Corel stuff. It’s fine when not using a Wacom graphics tablet, but who paints with a mouse!
Painter essentials 5 comes bundled with the Wacom art series of tablets, CTE-490. I’m finally using it with the older CTE-480 with no problems after hunting around for a solution and hearing nothing from Corel naught the chirping of crickets. Here is the solution:
Go up to Painter Essentials > Preferences > Interface > Under “Type Cursor”
It gives you a few options. “Enhanced Brush Ghost” was selected by default. As soon as I selected either “Iconic” or “Single Pixel” the problem went away immediately.
Hope this helps people.
Corel Aftershot Pro 3 – Apple Sierra OS problems
To Corel Aftershot Pro 3… the same cannot be said under Sierra. The spinning beachball of death at the earliest possible inconvenience. Shame, because the file folder layout is cooler than Adobe Lightroom. Personally Adobe LR 5.2 is fine under Mac OS 10.12 with a few exceptions and is better value than Aftershot, in my opinion.
Kudos to this software which runs not only with Photoshop CS5 and CS6 but with Photoshop Elements 13, 14 and 15. The only change to get it working is to preferences in Photoshop and add it’s folder as a plug in folder and give permission. Then access it under filters. Corel site says only Photoshop Elements 13, but I have tested it successfully with the newer versions under Mac OS 10.12.2 Sierra.
